Let me just start off by saying that I have been a vegetarian for quite some time now but I can not front like I haven’t been back and forth on this for YEARS now! It has literally taken me 3 years to accept the fact that I have been called to a plant based diet.
A lot of us are being led to change our diets so being a vegetarian I just want to encourage those of you who are on how to get started.
First, and foremost! Make sure that you are being led by God.
Selfish ambition is not only demonic (James 3:14-16) but vanity in the eyes of God. And if God isn’t leading you to change your diet you will end up in bondage. THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH EATING MEAT..
For every creature of God is good, and nothing to be refused, if it be received with thanksgiving: For it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer.
(1 Timothy 4:4-5)
The problem is is that God did not create what most of you are eating! If you want to eat well, just stop eating factory farmed animals and things being created by man!
Now i’m not saying that you have to hide the fact that you’re a vegan or a vegetarian. What i’m saying is, is that you don’t have to boast or make an idol out of it either. Trust me, no one cares. And the majority of professing Christians lack discipline so they just think you’re being extra, or weird. For instance, my family thinks that I’m crazy because I don’t eat meat when they’re the ones medically overweight or suffering from multiple diseases! This world is SO deceived. Just do yourself a favor and protect the way you eat.
Remember why you started
You will be tempted to AT LEAST reminisce about eating meat so if you end up eating a piece of a piece of chicken don’t tear yourself down about it. We should not be consumed with our every day lives so when you find yourself struggling (or giving up!) just remember why you started.
Eat what YOU like
You do not need to eat like fully raw Kristina. Of Course you should try new things (and have a well balanced diet!) but you can start with what you already enjoy eating. Don’t over think it. Focus on learning how to cook or you will end up just plain HUNGRY, stuffing your face with junk. Also, make sure that you meal prep because eating out limits your options and will have you meditating on “restrictions”.
So yeah, that’s pretty much it. Being a vegetarian has many benefits. Health wise it’s obvious but spiritually I am learning how to discipline my flesh and how to live as a minimalist. Now I don’t know exactly why or how long I can’t eat meat but honestly, I don’t need to know. I just need to follow the Lord’s leading. If you would like to know what I typically eat in a day, just let me know and i’ll make a part 2 to this post.
